mirna bamieh (born 1983) is an artist from jerusalem, palestine and currently based in beirut, lebanon. bamieh obtained ba in psychology from birzeit university in ramallah (2006) and mfa in fine arts from bezalel academy for arts and design in jerusalem (2013). she was a participant of 2013/14 home workspace program at ashkal alwan in beirut. her current artistic research starts from a geographical territory that exists, an actual place where tensions and conflicts occur. she brings the perceptions attached to these instances into a more symbolic level. she investigates the experiences arising from dealing with the interactions between memory and imagination - a field where art and personal confrontations with the real can overlap. she is currently organizing maskan apartment project, a curatorial project that proposes the domestic space of an apartment as a laboratory for creative production and research. the project is taking place in beirut from january-march 2015, and will later be travel to tunisia, cairo and ramallah she participated in several local and international shows and festivals. these included in 2014: encounters film festival, bristol; cork film festival, ireland; eye on palestine art and film festival, brussels; and art in front of my door, b’chira art center, tunisia. she also participated in the a. m. qattan foundation’s young artist of the year award 2012, ramallah and her work was also shown in mosaic rooms, london (2013), here & now at laznia centre for contemporary art, poland (2011), and exhaustion, jerusalem show iv, jerusalem (2010). she participated in art residencies at kathmandu contemporary art center (kcac), kathmandu, nepal (2013), the delfina foundation, london, uk (2012) and global arts village, new delhi, india (2007).
